From UBC to COP: Bashar’s story of climate action, bicycles and economics
Bashar is a recent graduate of the Bachelor of International Economics (BIE) program at the Vancouver School of Economics (VSE) at UBC. He focuses on a broader goal of understanding the effects of climate change on underrepresented populations, and his passion for storytelling has taken him all over the world. In this inspiring interview, Bashar describes how he came to present, "Stories of Change", a documentary which shares climate stories collected during a cross--country bicycle tour of Bangladesh, at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai, UAE.

Forest in Danger
The Artist Brigade brings arts and artists to the front lines of the climate movement. In 2022, selected artists toured the SongBird Forest, a diverse habitat of salmon, elk, and wolf, but one which is currently slated for logging. In this rare low-elevation coastal rainforest, artists learned from the shíshálh Nation and local forest watch groups about the cultural significance, history and habitat of this forest, and brainstormed ideas to save it.
Co-Creating a Culture of Stewardship: Cloth, Plants and Place
Artist Brigade artists joined EartHand Gleaners and Indigenous artists-in-residence to weave nettle rope and learn stories from Coast Salish land. These conversation circles weaved together questions: How do we learn stories of our own history? What were the plants, fibres and textile practices of your own ancestral journey?
